About Mark Richt

Coach Mark Richt is a beloved college football coach, philanthropist, motivational speaker, husband, father, and author of “Make the Call.” Coach Richt served as the head football coach for the University of Georgia and the University of Miami as well as a longtime assistant coach for the Florida State University Seminoles, under his mentor Bobby Bowden. Throughout his career, his teams won two SEC championships, five SEC division titles, and one ACC division title. He was a two-time SEC Coach of the Year (2002, 2005), the 2017 ACC Coach of the Year, and the recipient of the national 2017 Walter Camp Coach of the Year Award.

In his book, “Make the Call,” Coach Richt shares his greatest football memories and pivotal life moments in hopes of guiding readers to make crucial, game-time decisions in their own lives. Coach Richt gives a behind-the-scenes look at some of the most iconic moments in football and tells heart-warming stories about the strong bonds and key teachings he shared with his players, such as Charlie Ward and D.J. Shockley to name a few. Richt is currently a football analyst for ESPN’s ACC Network and travels nationally for speaking engagements and philanthropic work. At home, Coach Richt and his wife Katharyn enjoy spending time with their four adult children and two grandchildren.
